Fallen Angels, 4, Minimum Wage

Jane and Dick are looking to pick up a few bucks until they land fancy career-path jobs again.

Jane checked out a waitress gig.

She found that servers are paid less than minimum wage and depend on tips that would barely cover her Ubers to and from the diner. Besides, who wants to waste a $7000 orthodontically perfect smile on a lousy twenty percent tip?

While working in the White House, Dick and Jane developed social-media blitzes opposing a higher minimum wage which, they argued, would be paid to teens getting generous allowances anyway.

Jane has rehearsed a graceful way to turn down offers which aren’t to her liking. She didn’t need to use it at the SunnySide Cafe.

The manager politely informed her she wasn’t qualified for the job. He boxed up two free slices of SunnySide’s signature velvet cream pie and sent her on her way.

Yes, I realized it has become an educational/preaching (?) tool, and I like the message.

Having grown up in a socialist-colored society (and still missing what it used to be), I fully empathize with your message.

But I’d feel even more of inspired if it concentrated on this message from a more optimistic, rather than vindictive, angle:. New hope for dreamers, steps to combat ethnic hatred and xenophobia, bringing the pandemic under control, thus reaffirming the superior value of human life over the value of material profit, and more.

Though Biden is not a revolutionary, bent on turning the US into a Scandinavian social democratic society, I believe he has a heart, and will do much to even the playing field for the underprivileged.

    End of sermon…

You’re really savoring the cold revenge…

I stopped thinking about Trump and his enablers cum followers, and am cheering Biden on. Perhaps this less-than-charsmatic president will end up achieving a lot more for America than his more popular antecedents succeeded in delivering for the American people.
