After positive encouragement and two meetings in New York, cartoon editor Bob Mankoff told me I was too old to be a cartoonist at The New Yorker He wanted to build a team that would deliver decades of cartoons.
I was disappointed, of course. But looking for younger talents makes sense, I could see Mankoff’s logic.
